Direct Primary Care in Scranton, Pa
Direct Primary Care (DPC) is an alternative payment model that improves patient access to health care with simple, affordable membership fees. Primary care offices like Elemental Wellness DPC provide you with excellent, personalized primary care services for an affordable monthly rate. DPC practices are known for offering unhurried, trusting relationships between the patient and their Primary Care Practitioner.
At Elemental Health & wellness DPC our practitioners limit their patient panel versus a traditional setting that may have more than 2,000 patients, so you get the time and quality care you deserve. With our membership you get comprehensive, personalized care whether it is in office, on the computer, or by telephone. Is direct primary care the same thing as concierge medicine? The key difference between Concierge Medicine and Direct Primary Care (DPC) lies in their financial models. In Concierge Medicine, patients pay an annual retainer fee for more personalized and on call care, while DPC involves a monthly or annual fee for access to primary care services without copays.
With a membership to a DPC co-pays for office visits, acute visits, telephone or virtual visits are eliminated. Many DPC patients pair with their membership a high deductible, lower premium insurance plan or a health care sharing ministry plan for coverage in case of a major health issue requiring hospitalization or specialists care.
A nurse practitioner (NP) is a nurse who has advanced clinical education and training. NPs share many of the same duties as doctors. They perform physical exams and provide treatment to patients including but not limited to ordering, performing, and interpreting diagnostic and laboratory tests; making diagnoses, prescribing medication and non-pharmacologic treatments; coordinating care; counseling; and educating patients, their families, and their communities. A nurse practitioner must have a graduate-level degree of education. Nurse practitioners focus on health promotion, disease prevention, health education, and counseling. Their goal is to guide patients in making smarter health and lifestyle choices, which in turn can lower patients’ out-of-pocket costs.
